The Department of Psychological Sciences at Texas Tech University announces multiple openings for tenure-track positions for Fall 2023 at the Assistant Professor level in Cognition and Cognitive Neuroscience (30364BR), Human Factors (30363BR), and Social Psychology (30361BR).
We have one opening for a faculty member in Cognition & Cognitive Neuroscience. We are seeking candidates with strong research programs that incorporate a multi-methods approach, including especially fMRI and/or computational modeling. Topics of research within cognition and neuroscience are open, but we especially encourage applications from researchers who examine relationships between cognition and health, broadly defined. The successful candidate will be expected to train graduate students on neuroscientific methods and lend neuroscientific expertise to collaborations with other faculty.
For the Human Factors position, we have one faculty opening. The candidate who is hired will be a core faculty member in the Human Factors Psychology Program, which is fully accredited by the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. Specialty area is open but should contribute to the department’s growing emphases on health, safety, and neuroscience (each broadly defined).
Examples include but are not limited to workplace safety, transportation safety, patient safety, cybersecurity, neuroergonomics, human-automation and human-robot interaction, human machine teaming, and team performance in health, military and national security activities. Some preference will be given to candidates whose research complements that of current faculty.
We will also be hiring one new faculty member in Social Psychology. Applicants are expected to have a program of research that fits within any subarea of social psychology and complements the existing faculty strengths in health, identity, stigma, self-regulation, substance use, group processes and intergroup relations, and attitudes and persuasion.
Candidates for all three positions are expected to conduct productive and programmatic research, compete for extramural research funding, teach undergraduate and graduate psychology courses, mentor graduate students, and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession. The anticipated starting date is August 19, 2023.
The Department of Psychological Sciences at Texas Tech University
(http://www.depts.ttu.edu/psy/) has doctoral programs in clinical, counseling, cognition and cognitive neuroscience, human factors, and social psychology. We currently have 27 full-time faculty members, 130+ doctoral students, over 1,500 undergraduate majors, our own building with labs and classroom space, and a Psychology Clinic. The Texas Tech Neuroimaging Institute (TTNI) houses a research-dedicated fMRI. Our research programs encompass departmental, campus, community, and national/international collaborations. We have effective working relationships with the TTU Health Sciences Center, several large area hospitals, numerous clinics and psychological-service agencies, and other multidisciplinary groups in the region. Texas Tech
is classified as a doctoral “research-extensive university” by the Carnegie Foundation, a Research 1 University, and as a “national research university” by the State of Texas. Texas Tech is also designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution and a First-Gen Forward Advisory Institution.
