Assistant Professor in Brain and Cognitive Science - USC
The Department of Psychology’s Brain and Cognitive Science area within the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. We are particularly interested in candidates with a computational approach to language research.
The study of language and higher order cognition is undergoing rapid transformation, fueled by advancements in artificial intelligence, especially large language models, which are revolutionizing cognitive science. We seek applicants whose research program utilizes computational methods to explore the multifaceted nature of human language processing, encompassing its neural, physical, behavioral, and social dimensions, and potentially contributes to advancements in AI and natural language processing.
The successful candidate will establish strong connections with other computational faculty within the Brain and Cognitive Sciences area and play an integral role in the newly founded Center for Computational Language Sciences.
The appointment is expected to begin in August 2025. Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. and demonstrate an excellent doctoral and/or post-doctoral record that includes a strong track record of publications and potential to secure extramural funding. The annual base salary range for this position is $109,250 - $124,070.
