The Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of San Diego invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Neuroscience starting in Fall 2024.
The teaching load is three courses per semester, and faculty will serve as an academic advisor for undergraduate students and participate in department and University service. Candidates who have postdoctoral experience with independent research and university-level teaching are preferred, and candidates with experience working with and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds are especially welcome to apply.
A successful applicant will teach a lower-level introductory neuroscience course, upper-division courses in neurobiology and/or systems neuroscience, and an advanced capstone in neuroscience. Candidates will be expected to teach and contribute to the development of laboratory classes for the neuroscience major. There is also the opportunity to teach upper-division specialty courses in their area of expertise (e.g., psychopharmacology, cellular physiology, hormones and behavior, etc.). The successful candidate will have demonstrated the potential for an independent research program involving undergraduate students. Research using invertebrate, rat, fish, or cellular models is preferred. Successful candidates should demonstrate a clear commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including advocating for the advancement of the perspectives of minoritized or marginalized students.

Candidates who have postdoctoral experience with independent research and university-level teaching are preferred, and candidates with experience working with and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds are especially welcome to apply.
A successful applicant will have expertise in psychology with a focus on advanced quantitative methods. This faculty member will teach introductory statistics and research methods, advanced statistics for undergraduates, an advanced capstone in psychology, and upper-division courses in their area of expertise. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the potential for an independent research program involving undergraduate students. Candidates whose scholarship involves empirical data and/or computational modeling, including research on the teaching and learning of quantitative reasoning, are encouraged to apply.
