Instructional Professor (Open Rank) and Program Coordinator, Major/Minor in Cognitive Science

The Humanities Collegiate Division is accepting applications for an Instructional Professor (open rank) and  Program Coordinator who will manage the major/minor in Cognitive Science and teach a maximum of four  courses a year in that curriculum (course load dependent on additional duties). This is a full-time position  with an initial term of two to five years, depending on rank, to start September 1, 2023. 

In consultation with the Faculty Director of the major/minor in Cognitive Science, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for planning, staffing, and coordinating all Cognitive Science courses. Teaching is central  to this position, and we seek candidates proven to be highly effective teachers in Cognitive Science and/or at  

least one of its core disciplines: Computer Science, Psychology, Philosophy, Linguistics or Neuroscience.  Possible course offerings will include the foundational courses for the major, “Mind, Brain and Meaning” and  “Cognitive Models,” as well as other courses based around the expertise and interests of the individual hired  into this position. In conjunction with the Faculty Director, the Program Coordinator will also develop the  profile and mission of the major/minor in Cognitive Science. The Program Coordinator will help to enable  extracurricular programs in Cognitive Science at the University more broadly, to develop on-campus  programming, and to explore opportunities for student research and career pathways. Course assignments  and other duties of the Program Coordinator will be determined annually by the Faculty Director of the  Cognitive Science major/minor. 

Minimum qualifications are a MA/MS or PhD in Cognitive Science or a related field, and experience teaching  at the university or post-secondary level. Experience in program development and/or coordination  preferred.
