The Department of Psychological Science at Simpson College seeks a colleague who is broadly trained in cognitive and biological aspects of psychology and who complements existing strengths in the department.
The selected candidate will:
Teach 6 courses (24-credit hours) across the 2023-24 Academic Year (fall semester, spring semester, and May Term). Courses include Cognitive Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience. Opportunities to teach additional courses aligning with the curricular needs of the department (statistics, research methods, and/or intro psych) and the candidate’s area of expertise and are also available.
Contribute to student success and completion by mentoring students and by enhancing equity and an inclusive environment
Conduct research, especially research in collaboration with undergraduates
Provide service to the department of psychological science, the interdisciplinary neuroscience program, the college, and/or the profession.
Contribute to the psychology and neuroscience majors.
Teaching responsibilities will begin in late August 2023; advising and service to the college will begin the following year.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in psychology. ABD candidates nearing completion of their Ph.D. will also be considered
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, and/or service
Experience in teaching college or university-level classes (preferred)
Research experience collaborating with undergraduate researchers (preferred)
